WHO WE ARE

About the Academy

OUR MISSION

The Seamanship Academy – Maritime Training Center is a non-profit company headquartered in Flensburg, Germany, providing a new range of learning opportunities and career development in the traditional maritime industry — from yacht design and the principles of naval architecture, to boat building and restoration, rigging and sail development, traditional sailing, and navigation — for people of all ages, but especially the young. We work in partnership with organisations across Europe and beyond, providing maritime knowledge and certifications recognised worldwide.

OUR VISION
Becoming the leading maritime training centre in Europe.
NON-PROFIT BY DESIGN

The Seamanship Academy, Maritime Training Center gemeinnützige UG is structured as a non-profit organisation. Financial viability comes from a range of courses — practical on site and theoretical on our online platform — that support the Academy's community aims, keep the organisation in operation, and provide regular employment while maintaining a high standard of teaching. As a non-profit, we believe seamanship should be accessible — our pricing reflects that mission.

OUR FLEET

Two ships of our own — and a fleet of partners across Europe

The Academy operates two vessels of its own out of Flensburg, complemented by the ships of our partner organisations in Marstal, Malta and Bornholm — giving students hands-on time on a range of traditional and modern craft.
