Design and cut shapes, machine- and hand-sew, and maintain sails for anything from a small dinghy to a round-the-world yacht. This week focuses on traditional hand-finishing sailmaking techniques.
Each student makes a small demonstration gaff-style sail to take away, hand-finished with traditional techniques including external roping, leather corner work, hand-sewn cringle eyelets and grommets, and a roped peak becket.
